611Submitted by Jeanette Edds, who wrote: "I was born and raised in a small, rural, bordering destitute town called Bedford in Kentucky (although, we kind of just count our entire county as our community, since there are only two 'cities' - Bedford and Milton- in Trimble County).

"There are four public schools, Bedford and Milton Elementaries, Trimble Co. Middle and Trimble Co. High, and one semi-private head-start institute. Most 'Bedfordians' and 'Miltonians' have lived here for the better parts of their lives, and most who move here end up staying (it's kind of like a 150 sq. ft. vacuum), which leaves us with just over eight thousand residents who lead typically simple lives and, for the most part, go nowhere and do next to nothing.

"I'm not trying to be derogatory toward my town, but that's just the way it has always been. Ever since I was small I have known that I wanted something different for my future self, and have worked to free my current self from the provincial binds of small town life."
