2488"While exploring the island of Koh Chang in Thailand, I got caught up in a conversation about happiness with a dreadlocked guy on the concrete dancefloor of a small bar," Sofia said.

"We both agreed that a lot of people constantly seem to be trying to find reasons not to be happy, and eagerly blaming those for their inability to feel pleased about their lives.

"What is forgotten here is how big a role our way of thinking plays in affecting our wellbeing, and that it is up to us to fill our heads with good thoughts.

"A big part of the discussion was about the way many people (including my former self) often complain about where they live, and point out that to be the reason why life isn't as enjoyable as it should be.

"And yet a person who barely has a roof over his or her head can manage to find happiness just fine.

"It is really a question of how you choose to look at life, and to focus on what you have instead of what you are missing. The conversation reached its peak when the guy leaned towards me and said this."
