2515“I was walking in Time Square,” Amissa says in her audio commentary.

”It was a really rainy afternoon, I don’t even remember where I was going, but I knew that I didn’t have any place to be. I was wandering. I was a little bored, a little tired, feeling a little listless, a little disenchanted with life as one is in early 20s in New York City.

”And I rarely look up when I walk, but for whatever reason on that particular day, I happened to look up. As I was walking a man approached me and he was just about to pass me by, and right at the moment when we met he said this.

”I stopped in my tracks and I watched him keep walking. You have those moments when people actually see you, and actually maybe get a sense of what you’re going through and maybe can understand and share in that.

”It’s rare, but when it happens it’s pretty special. I’ve carried those words and that moment since then.”
