2572“My phrase comes from about six years ago,” Sohaib says in his audio commentary.

”It’s from my mother’s sister, so my aunt. She’s one of the sweetest and loveliest, kindest people that I know and pretty much blissfully unaware of every pop culture reference.

”My dad had been ill for quite a while, and after being in hospital for two months he died. My aunt was over here from the US, to support the family. We were talking one day when we were obviously a bit depressed, a bit down.

”She originally said: ‘Be like a rock in a stream.’ I said did she mean I should be completely unaffected by everything that’s happening around me?

”She then said this to me, suggesting I be the thing that’s overcoming the thing that’s in the way.

”I was like: ‘First of all, you’ve come out with a Bruce Lee quote – that’s awesome. Secondly, that actually makes a lot more sense than being a rock in a stream.

”She wanted to find something that would make me feel better, but that she stumbled onto a Bruce Lee thing and said something that made a lot of sense to me at the time, given that I wasn’t exactly open to hearing a lot of things right then, made it stick with me.”
