2570“So I had just started working at this spa,” says Brenda in her audio commentary. “I was two weeks into the job and the manager asked if I wanted to meet Olga, the facilitator of the entire spa.”

”I said sure, I would love to meet her. The manager stepped out of the room, was gone for about five minutes, came back and said this to me.

”I heard that phrase and completely felt shattered. I looked at myself up and down and thought: ‘Oh my gosh, I must look like sh*t’. I told the manager it was ok and not a big deal.

”As soon as the manager left I closed the door and started to cry because I felt self conscious. You always want to feel like you’re presenting your best self, and for someone to reject you and say this, felt very rejecting.

”Then I realised I’m here to do my job and I know what my self worth is. If she doesn’t like it that’s her problem, not mine.”
