2243This is the remarkable Sister Ethel Normoyle, who founded and runs the Missionvale Care Centre in Port Elizabeth, South Africa which helps people from the adjoining Missionvale township.

Of her SOTM, she says: “When I was a little girl, I wanted a new dress, now. My family lived about eight miles from the local town, so I could not have the dress now.

“My father saw that I was quite upset, and he said this to me. And I remember turning around and doing a skip, out the yard. It really has been a fantastic strength to me since I came to South Africa 41 years ago. I have worked in similar circumstances that I’ve worked in Missionvale, and it made me realise that your beauty does not come from outside, it comes from within.

“It made me believe in myself, it made me feel very comfortable in my own skin, it made me realise that I have all the resources that God wants me, needs me to have in the particular circumstances that I have ministered to him. And that I don’t need any exterior affirmation, or praise, or acclaim, that it all comes from within. And that is where God lives in all of us.”
