Everything Is Going To Be OK

1145 Megan Welch sent this in from Tustin, California, US through the SOTM Flickr group, after taking it in her bedroom. She admits it's not an exact SOTM, but her argument is powerful enough to warrant its inclusion. She wrote: “January 28, 2009

“I was laid off from my job yesterday. I am really not upset despite everyone treating me like I should be upset. My career ambition is not to be an administrative assistant, my career ambition is to be a director and with God's leading I will be. I spent today going through my paperwork to get my healthcare and severence pay, etc. worked out. I also have to file for the pitiful amount unemployment will give me.

“The big thing is that I refuse to wallow in self pity, so I am being proactive. I am already working on my resume and cover letter again, and will start applying later this week or early next week. I'd like to get a film job, but the truth is that I still have my indy movie I'm working on so I just need a job that will let me finish post production and get the baby into festivals.

“When I got up I decided that I wasn't going to be the typical unemployed bum so I made sure to get dressed (not all the unemployed get out of their pajamas every day I'm told), do my hair and make up and I decided I was taking this picture, but I couldn't figure out what to say so I waited until about 5 o'clock and it came to me.

“While no one has told me this in exact words, this is the sentiment I have and what everyone that loves me keeps telling me. This exact wording is actually a quote from my movie END. Everything is going to be okay.”

"and everything was okay! I'm glad this made it up here because I know it speaks to a lot of other people too. Good job on your refusal of self pity and getting going the next day. And don't worry.."
