2509“A co-worker and I worked at US News and World Report, in a division that created news briefings,” explains Craig in his audio clip.

”We both had degrees in creative writing and we thought ‘How can we take this a step further?’ and condense the news even further. My co-worker said this to me, and with the idea of putting the original news link with the haiku on Twitter.

”So we did it, and in 2013, for National Poetry Month, we started the Haikews project. It’s been going strong ever since and we’re always looking for more people.”
