We Can Put An End To Poverty In Our Life Time

404She wrote: "This quote comes from a very inspirational man who is involved in grassroots campaigning to convince governments to honour their commitment to the UN Millennium Campaign.

"In the year 2000, 189 world leaders agreed that the world could and would end poverty by 2015. They set up 8 very specific and actionable targets. Right now we've crossed the half way point of this campaign and we're not anywhere close to being on track to meeting those targets.

"The UN is working hard to maintain momentum and keep our leaders accountable, but it's up to all of us to shout from the rooftops that we demand our governments honour this commitment.

"The UN has estimated that it might only take US$50 billion of additional aid per year to meet these goals and end poverty. That sounds like a lot, but US$900 billion was invested in arms last year alone.

"Today is Blog Action Day and we are asking bloggers, podcasters and videocasters from around the world to speak up against poverty for one day."

"Wow, I didn't even know about the UN resolution. The government should be able to that, they were able to dig up 700 billion Plus to bail out a bunch of rich guys"
