Maybe You're Not A City Person Anymore

496Taken by Jenn Roberts, who submitted it through the SOTM Flickr page and wrote: "Since being introduced to the SOTM website, I have become rather enthralled.

"This was taken in a BC Liquor Store in Richmond, BC Canada. I wanted to try having the photo taken publicly as most of the photos on the SOTM site are taken in public places.

"It was busy in there tonight and I was feeling highly self-conscious about taking a self-portrait. Oh - and this is the NZ/Australian wine section, for those of you who are curious. I came home with primarily Chilean/Argentine though.

"I'm grumpy that my handwriting makes the word Anymore almost illegible.

"My friend Sierra told me this, recently, and I have been thinking about it constantly every since. I grew up in a small town and as soon as I moved to a city to go to university I felt like I had found my place in the world: big cites with great restaurants, diverse populations, and more things to do that I could possibly get around to.

"I thought small towns just didn't suit me. Now I'm back in a city after spending a little more than a year in Whitehorse, Yukon (population: 24,000). And I miss it. I think about it all the time. I wonder if maybe I should return... Maybe I'm not really a city person after all."
