2348“This phrase was told to me by my father, when I was a teenager, around 18, 19 years old,” explains Aruna in her audio commentary.

”I was very distressed and sad, because I was trying to make friends with people and it didn’t work. I felt I was doing a lot of nice and good things but I didn’t get anything back.

”I felt very isolated and very along. I talked to my father and said ‘What’s the point of being nice and being good, if nothing comes back?”

”A couple of days later my father gave me a postcard which he made himself, and on it he’d written this. And because I grew up in France, he also wrote it in French.

”I cherish this photo, and I tell it to my husband and my children, so that they remember to always do good, no matter what comes in your life.”

The little chap seen here is Shaan, Aruna’s son, and he’s holding that same postcard his mum talks about. Aruna also runs a bed and breakfast on the Thai island of Koh Lanta, where this photo was taken during the SOTM World Tour.
