2038This SOTM was submitted by Priscilla Pilon from Indiana, USA. She wrote: “Three weeks before I started my freshman year in college my mother died. I lived south of Boston, MA at the time and was headed to Indiana to Saint Mary's College.

"My freshman year did not start well academically as I was in denial about my circumstances. I was put on academic probation and a haughty friend told me, ‘You will never graduate from Saint Mary's College.’

”I knew she might be right, but still believed that I could overcome the adversity and besides, I had a guardian angel looking out for me. I not only graduated, but I was elected to the Alumnae Board of Directors of the college and today I took a photo with the President of the college, Dr. Carol Mooney!”
