1673Foreign Language Friday: This is Maltese for “When you don’t know, ask”. She heard it from a “wise” relative who would often quiz her and her siblings, when they were young, on general knowledge questions such as capital cities of different countries.

“We would try to guess, throw them all out there, the ones we know, and he’d be like ‘No, if you don’t know, say you don’t know or ask’.” she explains in her audio clip.

This is something that’s stayed with her to this day. “A lot of times there’s a lot of people talking about things and I’m a bit confused, so I always think ‘OK, maybe I’ll just ask’.” An excellent plan, I’m sure you’ll agree. Taken in South Kensington, London, UK.
