1978“Last summer I quit my masters degree because I decided I wanted to do music stuff with my life instead. At the time it was kind of difficult because I wasn’t sure if I was making the right decision.

”I wanted to make sure I wasn’t shooting myself in the foot and that I wouldn’t end up having a really boring time of it or that I wouldn’t have to sell my soul and have a boring office job.”

He was discussing all this with a close friend when “she pretty much just laughs at me and says this”. Our subject says this “cheered me up hugely, as it’s kind of an encouragement and also a challenge because now I think people will never think I will have a boring life. So I can’t now, I have to make something of it.”
