2460“When we were younger – and even when we were older – we would go on vacation with my mom, her parents and her sisters,” says Kelly in her audio clip.

”My grandfather absolutely loved dessert. So we would all gather for a meal and while cleaning up afterwards my grandfather would sit at the table and just wait. He would say this, adding that it was the most important part of the meal.

”So we would be clearing up the table but he’d still be sitting there waiting to be brought a cookie or a bowl of fruit. It didn’t have to be anything extravagant, but he just always left room for something sweet.

”I think he did it partially to share the treat with the grandchildren, because he loved us, but it was nice to think that it’s important to have a little treat and have a little sweetness in life.”
